Kate O'Hara is the heroine of the Desperados series and lover of the protagonist John Cooper.

Personality[]

Kate O'Hara grew up on the O'Hara family ranch in Colorado in the care of her Uncle Ian. She knows very little of her parents, a Derringer being her only memento of her mother. Being raised as a farm girl she has to learn to get along in the rough wild west. However the death of her uncle during the attack of the DeVitt company while saving the family ranch and her meeting with John Cooper changed her life dramatically.

Kate becomes a restless soul who never stays long in one place, similar to her lover Cooper. She earns her keep by playing cards and is a popular guest at games because of her breathtaking appearance. However, her unabashed luck at poker (one could almost call it magic) gets her into trouble again and again — trouble from which Cooper, in particular, has had to rescue her more than once. Kate partnered with Cooper on most of his bounty missions. On a mission two things are important to her: the size of the bounty and the difficulty of the task. The more difficult a task is, the more it appeals to her instincts as a gambler. In her imagination the bounty is like a jackpot she needs to win.

Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive[]

Kate's standard weapon is a Derringer capable of three round firing. It is quiet and small enough to fit into her garter.
But her beauty is her main weapon. She can seduce enemies by playing with her garter.
She can also lure enemies by leaving a trail of poker cards.
With her mirror she can dazzle an opponent and reduce his viewing range for some moments.
She can knock enemies out with a well placed kick.
She can move quietly even over noisy surfaces. She can also disguise herself by changing her clothes and keep enemies distracted by performing dance or playing poker.

Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge[]

Kate carries a powder compact which she uses to knock out enemies by blowing powder in their faces. She can draw the attention of enemies by simulating a faint also. She can tie unconscious characters with rope. However she does not have the card and mirror tricks anymore.

Desperados III[]

Kate can knock out enemies at close range through her kick. But unlike all other characters in Desperados III, she can not perform a lethal melee takedown or tie up unconscious enemies.

She can throw a vial of perfume to make enemies in a small radius sneeze, briefly blinding them and limiting their view to a small area in front of them. She can also throw it on horses and oxen to irritate them and cause accidents. Irritated horses will knock out any person standing behind them and bulls will kill anybody in front of their horns.

If Kate is able to find a disguise in a mission, she can put it on to freely roam the map, as long as she avoids being seen by a Long Coat, getting too close to a dog, or doing anything suspicious, like attacking a guard. Doing any of these while being seen immediately removes her disguise.

While in disguise she can flirt with male guards including ponchos to distract them and make them look into a specific direction. In civil zones she can perform this skill without a disguise.

Additionally, she can lure a simple male guard from their position and make them follow her for a short while, leading them to any nearby location to set up an ambush.

Finally, Kate still has her Derringer which she can use to shoot and kill enemies in a short range with minimal noise.

Additionally Kate can climb ladders and pickpocket enemies. She can also carry a single body while crouching but she cannot tie up enemies. Together with Hector this makes her the only character that can carry an unconscious enemy without tying them up first.
